Mostly, companies today simply employ screens or TV sets as decorative shop window elements in order to present their products’ advantages to their potential clientele. The sequence of the pictures or movies shown on these screens is always the same and cannot be influenced from outside.
The prize-winning innovation, the interactive shop window display, now allows viewers to operate and select menu items directly through the shop window. To detect motions, the shop window systems used until now employ either cameras or infra-red sensors that have been affixed to the shop window. These concepts provide no protection against vandalism, soiling or outside light effects. Their acquisition is often costly and requires time-consuming calibration works. The use of camera systems in public areas is, beyond that, subject to official authorization.
The jury found it particularly convincing that no outside installations on the shop window need to be made, and that it can also be applied with metallized heat insulation and shop windows with thicknesses of more than 6mm.
